This blog will be mainly to document my wargaming project to simulate battles from the Legend of the Galactic Heroes Animated and novel series. 

The objective  is to build two functional fleets (one for the Empire and one for the Free Planet Alliance) and a series of wargaming rules to hopefully try to recreate the flavor and tactics of the setting.

The first steps will be to build the miniatures that will be used as units in the game. For simplicity and because of the very high quality, the ships from the Fleet File collection sculpted and sold by Alba Creates will be  used. The ships come pre-painted in the standard line but also unpainted "garage kits" are available and will be used to bolster the ranks of the fleets.

The wargaming rules will take inspiration from some existing rule-sets but will be mainly written by me and will be available here when I am done writing them. Scenarios for the main battles will also be included.

Lots of information in this project is going to be translated (as i only know a very limited amount of Japanese) so there might be translation issues I am not aware of. The translations will be done using this very useful website: https://www.deepl.com/en/translator#ja/en/ . The translation quality is much superior compared to google translate which has a lot of trouble specifically with Japanese.

Fleet File vol 3R review and Morale system

 Fleet File Vol 3R review I am not sure what the R series of Fleet File Volumes is supposed to represent or be different compared to the normal series. For example the more recently announced vol 10R is very similar to the 10 from the regular series which has been not available for a while. On the other hand volume 3 and 3R are completely different with only the Perceval and Hyperion ships in common. In any case this volume includes 10 ships, 5 FPA and 5 Empire.   Perceval : beautiful model, luckily only available in the Goldenlowe version since the ship was built after Reinhard became emperor. The detail is excellent and crisp but particular attention needs to be applied to make sure not to bend or put pressure on the very fine and pointy tip.    Hyperion : Yang's flagship is also included as another example of one of the few ships with a different color palette. Fleet File garage kits and how to paint your own LOGH ship models

It's been a while since my last update and that is because I have been busy painting up the remaining of my Imperial and FPA ships. Roughly 30 FPA and 40 imperial standard (battleships, cruisers, carriers) ships were added to both rosters. What are the Fleet File Garage Kits? Garage kits are basically resin model kits produced usually in limited numbers, in the past these kits were mainly produced by hobbyists in Japan in their own homes and sold at conventions or in small circles.  In the case of the Fleet File series they the unpainted and unassembled (slightly more than the normal kits which require minor assembly of antennas and fins) versions of the main series.  They come in these brown simple boxes with no art and include significantly more models (usually 20) than each individual standard kit.  One of the main benefit if you're someone like me that is trying to get models to beef up armies for a tabletop game is that it's very easy to paint named ships as standard b
